Path Integrals in a Multiply-Connected Configuration Space (50 Years After)

چکیده

The proposal made 50 years ago by Schulman (1968), Laidlaw & Morette-DeWitt (1971) and Dowker (1972) to decompose the propagator according homotopy classes of paths was a major breakthrough: it showed how Feynman functional integrals opened direct window on quantum properties topological origin in configuration space. This paper casts critical look at arguments brought this series papers its numerous followers an attempt clarify reason why emergence unitary linear representation first group is not only sufficient but also necessary.

Path integrals , black holes and configuration space topology 1

A path integral derivation is given of a thermal propagator in a collapsing black-hole spacetime. The thermal nature of the propagator as seen by an inertial observer far from the black hole is understood in terms of homotopically non-trivial paths in the configuration space appropriate to tortoise coordinates. 1 Expanded version of a talk presented by F.V. at the 8th Marcel Grossman Meeting (J...

Shortest path in a multiply-connected domain having curved boundaries

Computing shortest path, overcoming obstacles in the plane, is a well-known geometric problem. However, widely assumed obstacles are polygonal in nature. Very few papers have focused on the curved obstacles, and in particular, for curved multiplyconnected domains (domains having holes). Given a set of parametric curves forming a multiply-connected domain (MCD), with one closed curve acting as a...

Thermal radiation in non-static curved spacetimes: quantum mechanical path integrals and configuration space topology

A quantum mechanical path integral derivation is given of a thermal propagator in non-static Gui spacetime. The thermal nature of the propagator is understood in terms of homotopically non-trivial paths in the configuration space appropriate to tortoise coordinates. The connection to thermal emission from collapsing black holes is discussed. Typeset using REVTEX Supported by the Société Académi...

Gibbs measures with double stochastic integrals on a path space

We investigate Gibbs measures relative to Brownian motion in the case when the interaction energy is given by a double stochastic integral. In the case when the double stochastic integral is originating from the Pauli-Fierz model in nonrelativistic quantum electrodynamics, we prove the existence of its infinite volume limit. 1 Preliminaries 1.1 Gibbs measures relative to Brownian motions Gibbs ...
